The Unassigned Number of Google Analytics 4

The Unassigned Number of Google Analytics 4, automatic tagging, manual tagging

If you're using manual tagging parameters (UTM), generally, we would recommend disabling automatic tagging in Google Ads. Using both manual and automatic tagging can confuse the source parameters collected by GA4, resulting in the system being unable to attribute them to any default channel grouping, thus attributing them to 'unassigned'. If you intend to use both manual and automatic tagging simultaneously, please use the following checklist to ensure all your configurations are correct:

  1. Make sure you have correctly linked your Google Ads account with Google Analytics properties.

  2. Ensure the tracking code for the correct Google Analytics property is placed on the landing pages of your ads.

  3. If your website supports automatic tagging, enable this feature.

  4. Double-check to ensure there are no filters excluding Google Ads data.

  5. Use Google Tag Assistant to verify if your code is set up correctly.

Hope you find this information useful to understand The Unassigned Number of Google Analytics 4.
